Gaining Knowledge Every Day

As for technology, I can say that I learned the ctrl-v, ctrl-x, ctrl-c as well as ctrl-+ (subscripts). I knew them before, but I became proficient in using them because of this class. I also used print screen a lot, which I had seldom used before this class. I would say that I also become a lot more proficient in converting images to JPEG files because I had to do this for every project. Most importantly, I learned how you make and use a blog, which I had never done before this class.

The project that I learned the most on was the culture site project. This makes a lot of sense since this was out largest project. I think I learned the most because I did a lot of research for this project. I really enjoyed doing the other two projects, because the financial project helped me realize a dream and the teach project allowed me to help people through a crisis that I had experienced a few weeks earlier. All in all, I would say I learned what I need to learn throughout this course in order to be successful.

Official Start of Teach Project

For my topic I will be presenting a step by step process for how to get music from your ipod to your computer if you have recently wiped your computer clean. To complete this project, I can foresee the use of internet, search engines, the print screen function, my ipod, and wordpress. I will be starting this project tonight, so the complete week 9 assignments will be completed tonight. See the links area for similar works completed. I believe that the link “How to get Music off your ipod” will be especially helpful because this is how I figured out how to do it two weeks ago when I was forced to wipe my computer clean and lost all of my music on my computer.

My financial analysis is now cleaned up, organized and much more presentable and easy to read. I elaborated on a few aspects of my trip planning in order to be a little more thorough. All in all, that project was relatively easy to complete, just time consuming.

Now for the Teach project. I have been thinking about this off and on and I am having trouble thinking of a lesson to teach. My immediate reaction was to teach the class how to use an ergometer, or rowing machine. This is due to the fact that this is a huge part of my life. However, this would prove to be a hard task since the people in the class will probably never apply it and cannot try it until hours or possibly days later. Therefore, I continued thinking and now I am thinking that maybe I will teach the class how to retrieve files from your ipod if you have to wipe your computer clean. This recently happened to me and I actually just figured out how to do it today with no need to download a program. It is a relatively short task and I am not sure how long of a task we are supposed to choose. For now, this is what I think I will do because not many people know that you can actually do this once your ipod has been registered to a certain computer.

My Biggest Dream

After reviewing the list that I had devised last week, I decided that what I would actually love to do is go back to Australia for six weeks without studying abroad. This would be purely just to visit the country. When I was in Australia, I fell in love with their country and I am thinking about either pursuing a career there, or taking another long trip there. What better way to make this dream a reality than to budget a six week trip to Australia to and cities I want to visit. I would like to go back to Sydney, Cairns, Darwin, and Melbourne. Therefore, I will create a budget to do so.

Culture Site complete!

I finally finished the culture site project and have it submitted. Finishing the pictures turned out to be easier than I thought. That was a relatively long project and I am a bit more excited to do the financial analysis.

Financial Dream

I was considering options for what I would like to choose for the financial analysis and I am thinking that I would really like to do it on a trip to certain areas of the world. For instance, I would like to do a tour around Europe, visit New Zealand, and Italy. Therefore, for my financial analysis I am going to analyze the total cost of this dream and try and show how I could make it possible. This is actually a really cool project, but it is something that I would need to do anyhow if I were to make this dream a reality.

Finishing Touches on Culture Site Project

I finally have all my content in. The only part left that I need to do are the pictures. I put one picture up just to make sure I could do it. It was relatively easy to figure out, but under the requirements it says there should be a description of the picture and I put one in the description section of the add image, but then it doesn’t show up on my blog. Therefore, I will probably end up just adding it onto the cation since I can see that. Besides this, getting my content onto the blog was simple. Now I just need to do the finishing touches and I will be done! Good timing to since this is due in about a day. :]

Culture Site Project Progress

I am supposed to be writing about posting my paper, but the truth is that my paper is not complete and I do’t feel comfortable posting incomplete work online. However, I did read the autobiography by Joan Freeman about her entire life and this lady is impressive. In short, I think people reading about her will be inspired by her story because she defied odds to make a name for herself at a time when women weren’t actually accepted in the higher academic classes such as math and sciences. I created my page for my project and named it, so as soon as the paper is complete, it will be posted!

Oregon Libraries 24/7 Chat and Summit Resource

This week we were instructed to talk to a librarian. The women’s studies librarian was never online when I needed her, so I resorted to Oregon Libraries 24/7 Chat. I had all the information I needed, but I decided to see if they would be useful. The librarian I talked to was Chris from Ohio. He found all the articles that I had previously discovered, but also pointed out more links that may help direct me to more articles about Joan Freeman. I did find one more article that I didn’t have, so it ended up being a useful process. Another resource I used for this project is Summit. The autobipgraphy that Joan Freeman wrote was not available at Valley Library, so I used summit to have it sent here free of charge. I’m glad that this resource is available because most of the information I will use for my report on Joan Freeman will be right from her own words. Now, I suppose it is a matter of reading through all the information I have an presenting a small biogrpahy on Joan Freeman’s life and work as a nuclear physicist in Australia.
